As a bookshop owner in the middle of the country, I have many thoughts about this. I don't disagree, and give praise to the people who work incredibly hard on behalf of writers, but for the future of books and democracy, publishers need to set their sights beyond the northeast.

At just 22, Jack Smiley ’25 was paralyzed on his right side after collapsing at hockey practice on Feb. 21, 2022. Doctors couldn’t tell him if he would ever walk again. But with physical therapy and a positive mindset, number 10 has returned to the ice. https://t.co/gZzxRPQ14I

Let’s be real. This is an extension of what happened to me at UNC, and it is a glimpse into the future to come. Academic freedom is under attack. Racial justice programs are under attack. Black women will be made to pay. Our so-called allies too often lack any real courage.

Unbelievable. Believable. We've done it many times before. Even while we don't have enough housing, food, education, medical care, etc and are teetering on the edge of the end of democracy, going against the rest of the world, the UN. #CeaseFireNow

1200 New Yorkers, led by @JewishElders, marched through midtown in silence today to mourn the thousands of Palestinian children killed in Gaza these past months, and to demand a permanent #CeasefireNOW.

I had the pleasure and honor to blurb some wonderful books that came out this year. In no particular order: a thread 1/13 @jadedwriter_

Flying out of SFO today and headed to an event at @SalemAthenaeum this week, but this is the end of my official debut novel book tour. There are some literary festivals in the spring as I hope there always will be. It's been so awesome to see so many people and share this work.

So grateful to be a finalist for this! Thanks to the editors for the often thankless work of reading, and excited to be considered with so many other great writers!

I was brought up believing that being a Jew meant that you fight genocide, racism, and McCarthyism till your dying breath so I’m feeling a little confused about where some of you are coming from.

Impossible to comprehend how, instead of supporting a ceasefire and humanitarian aid, our Congress is on a witch hunt against university presidents for their unwillingness to condemn the very idea of a Palestine.
