@antipovertycent @AlboMP @JEChalmers In total agreement. This sort of decision is what I would have expected from the previous government. Shame that a labour government led by a man who makes so much of his humble beginnings would try this on

Restricting a JobSeeker increase to people over 55 would be a breathtakingly cruel and cynical move. Overnight, @AlboMP & @JEChalmers could ensure every Centrelink payment is above the poverty line. There is no other moral choice. FULL STATEMENT: https://t.co/JdZsaHxdYE

Labor will win Aston comfortably. A question. If you’re Peter Dutton and the result (in a VICTORIAN by election) could cost you your leadership why would you spend most of your time opposing a voice?

In 1945, the architect of the Guggenheim, Frank Lloyd Wright, first proposed red for the museum's façade but was shot down by director, Hilla Rebay. Well, we are finally making his wish come true! We have begun work on changing the museum's exterior color to red.

The strongly-projected defeat of the LNP in the #AstonByElection tonight is a huge testament to both the power of social media AND the abject failure of Australia’s mainstream press over the past couple of years. There hasn’t been such an indictment on the stupidity, hubris and

Trove's funding runs out in July 2023 – and the National Library is threatening to pull the plug. It's time for a radical overhaul

Seven years after the #fundtrove campaign, the National Library’s Trove is once again under threat – and it’s part of a broader neglect of Australia’s cultural institutions.

I second this. I use Trove every day as part of my work researching educational history, government policy… it’s a truly wonderful resource, FREE for family historians, school students, journalists, everyone! Please SAVE TROVE & ensure ongoing funding.

My thesis research is entirely dependent on @TroveAustralia - the loss of Trove would mean I lose nearly half of my sources. For the sake of any current & future research by not just historians but literary scholars, political scientists or anyone, fund @nlagovau and #savetrove!

This is the second time ⁦@MikeJonesPhD⁩ and I have written about funding cuts to Trove. Let’s hope it’s the last: “Trove's funding runs out in July 2023 – and the National Library is threatening to pull the plug. It's time for a radical overhaul”

Racism must be identified and called out every time, and people who spew such hate must face serious consequences. That’s why I moved to censure Senator Hanson in the Senate today.

Or to put it more plainly, the issue is this: Two powerful men, each sought special favours from each other across the same time frame. What was the price that was paid?

The first 100 days of a new Government are about getting the structures setup for the next 1000 days.IMO those structures and use of Ministers up front rather than a presidential style is encouraging. Obviously the next 1000 will determine the finish but it is a good start.
