HdrbKO and hdrb markers having the greatest impact on cell shape. So we highly recommend going away from it especially when studying cell shape dependent mechanisms. This work also show a link between metabolism and cell shape and growth that is yet to be understood.

We studied the cell shape devpt in most of the auxotrophic strains we use in our genetic system - and + plasmids. While we cannot completely understand this " plasmid effect " We show that cell shape can vary a lot in the different strain backgrounds in addition to the plasmid.

So when I moved to @Archaellum's lab and saw @MeghaPatro being confronted to the same issue with varying cell shape phenotypes linked to the presence of a plasmid with a mutant she was trying to characterized, We decided to put some work on it.

The idea of this project started when I was in @iduggin 's lab . It would bug me to see that we have different cell shape phenotypes and cell shape dynamics when a strain or mutant contains a plasmid. Pretty disarming when studying mechanisms linked to cell shape right ?.
