I left Porto 14 yrs ago to work in Lisbon, then moved to 🇳🇱 w/ periods in 🇺🇸🇮🇹. Despite the challenges, I never looked back. Currently house hunting, I hardly know where home is. But while en route to Porto for🎄, I'm happy to return to the safe place where I once belonged.

I've discovered the "Italian diet." Since I'm in Rome, I've lost 15 lbs & had lots of ice cream, pasta, red wine, etc. To follow the diet surround yourself by warm welcoming people, reduce stress (not the same as less work), laugh & enjoy everything in smaller but better portions

Unpaid peer-review work is exploitative. But paying for quick reviews won’t always improve science. More importantly, it deepens longstanding inequalities.

Last week my sister (also S. Ranchordas) was congratulated on "her new article." I had written it but a colleague saw it here & mixed me up w/ her. Apologies if you follow me thinking I'm S.Ranchordas, the heart surgeon. I'm a Law Prof. She is the cool one who saves lives daily.

Worst advice: Don’t publish articles during your PhD, just focus on your dissertation. Best: when you go to an interview, imagine yourself on the position already & act accordingly.
