I couldn't be prouder of our students at SHS for the respectful way they honored the victims of the Parkland, FL tragedy & used their voices to advocate for safe schools for all. This student-led event was poignant & thoughtful. Our school is better for it.
I am thrilled that Shrewsbury voters said YES to building a new Beal School! THANK YOU to everyone who supported this important project that will benefit our community for decades to come.
THANK YOU SHREWSBURY VOTERS!! Thanks to you, Shrewsbury will get a new K-4 elementary school. The numbers are still coming in, but it looks like a BIG win!
Due to ongoing weather conditions and the need to ensure safe campus access, all
@ShrewsburyPS
schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, Friday, January 5.

My incredible executive assistant, Beth, gifted me a new tool to help make snow day decisions. I asked “Should schools be closed tomorrow?” This is easier than monitoring weather reports!

A huge thank you to Town Meeting members for their overwhelming “Yes” vote to approve the borrowing for the new Beal School! I’m hopeful the full community will vote “Yes” on November 6 to authorize funding this critically important building project.
After getting intel from my family, my colleagues turned back the clock to my childhood to mark my turning a half century today. Surprised to walk in and find a working Atari, Evel Knievel, & an old school Mac in my office, plus The Boss on a 33 LP!
#BackInTime
Couldn’t be more proud to see students entering the new Beal School for the first time. Thank you to the Shrewsbury community for providing this incredible place for learning!

You know you’ve made a positive impact when 1000 students & staff surprise you w/ a special song and a piece of art incorporating everyone’s fingerprints! An awesome way to wish
@SherwPrincipal
the best as she leaves
@MiddleSherwood
to become one of our Assistant Superintendents!
The awarding of diplomas by family members began today at SHS! I was able to be there for a few of them, the first being
@2020SHS
Class Secretary Kaitlin Urbanik receiving her diploma from her grandfather and then having individual and family professional photos taken.
Here’s the team from Dunder Mifflin, the winners of the Town Hall costume contest. Great job by our
@ShrewsburyPS
Central Office, inspired & led by Kim Fitzpatrick (aka Michael Scott)! Look for your favorite character (I had it easy being Andy Bernard...)

Today we say goodbye to the incomparable Diane Abbott, our registrar, who is retiring after 25 years of exceptional service to

Once again, our SHS Speech & Debate team has demonstrated excellence. This represents a ton of hard work and dedication, which paid off in their second team state championship in four years. Congratulations to all of the team members and coaches!

We have a superb group of new educators joining

Due to the coming storm, all
@ShrewsburyPS
Public Schools will be closed. This will be a traditional snow day, not a remote learning day - there are no expectations for any students to complete any schoolwork from home tomorrow.
It was wonderful to celebrate our senior class at their 50 day breakfast this morning. A happy coincidence that their class color is green! ☘️ Thanks to the class advisors & parent volunteers for organizing this great event. The countdown to graduation is on!
#ShrewsburyLearns
Terrific ceremony this morning to celebrate community service learning at SHS.
@KellyEngTeacher

Extremely impressive performances & videos at today’s Black History Assembly at SHS. The messages were both poignant & inspirational. Our students make me so proud. Keep stepping up, standing up, & speaking up!
Love the scarecrows created by the 8 Blue students at Oak MS depicting the Oak administrators and me! Very accurate details, right down my lanyard and cell phone tweeting "snow day." Glad to see my speech bubble shows a no school announcement and not "If I only had a brain..."
I had lunch at SHS yesterday, and what the American Studies students did to raise awareness of the prevalence of depression and anxiety was compelling. This helps combat the stigma associated with mental health challenges. Well done!

Very proud of these SHS educators who completed a graduate certificate program in social & emotional learning at

A reminder that two of our schools are named after Shrewsbury residents who gave their lives in service to our country: Maj. Howard W. Beal (World War I) and Lt. Col. Walter J. Paton (World War II), whom we honor on this Memorial Day
