Malachi Williams left the mayoral section of his ballot blank, saying he didn't know enough about other candidate to vote with confidence. But he was working at the polls for At-Large Council Member Coleman Young II, saying he has integrity and deserves to keep his seat.

Janet “Peaches” Pope moved from Baltimore a few years ago. She's "underwhelmed by Detroit politics," expecting more energy on Election Day. “I'm surprised at the amount of apathy that there is here, and I feel like the mayoral candidates are weak."

I'm re-reading The Civility Book by @NolanFinleyDN & @SHDetroit in prep for the class I'm teaching in January at @oaklandu's Donna & Walt Young Honors College on the Foundations of Civil Discourse. Read the whole book; but all elected officials should read this passage.

Kinoch is joining me for an interview tomorrow. We had planned to package it with our last Sheffield interview to give voters a "final pitch" from both candidates before the debate but Kinloch had to reschedule. Anyway, what should I ask him?
The first head-to-head mayoral poll I've seen shows Sheffield with 65% of likely voters, 20% undecided and 14% for Kinloch. Politicos interviewed by The Detroit News say it's virtually impossible for Kinloch to win. https://t.co/QOrS4yn1IZ

Is the West Vernor corridor a model of family living in Detroit? It has 2x the residential density of the city overall, 2x more racially integrated, a higher percentage of households with children, a restaurant destination, more schools, more walkability, tons of (new) parks.
