To strengthen resilience, @SCIMalawi, with support from @GPforEducation, helped develop Education Emergency Preparedness & Response SOPs. These SOPs will guide schools & authorities to better protect children’s right to learn during crises.

Why SOPs? Malawi faces frequent disasters, 🌪️ floods, 🌊 cyclones, 🔥 fires, 🌾 droughts, that disrupt learning & endanger children. Cyclone Freddy alone damaged 72 classrooms, destroyed nearly 1,000 toilets, & forced 724,000 learners out of class.
