Europeans taking a leaf out of Arab playbook Trump Gaza peace plan inspiring a UKR plan I’m willing to bet this will face even more spoilers and difficulties than the Gaza plan: the US won’t be as invested to pressure parties, and might inadvertently buoy RUS for other interests
EXCLUSIVE with @AlbertoNardelli @EMPosts European nations are working with Ukraine on a 12-point proposal to end Russia’s war along current battle lines A peace board chaired by President Trump would oversee implementation of the proposed plan After a ceasefire along the

If Trump, Witkoff and Kushner felt this way (despite their proximity to Israel), think what the Arab leaders are thinking Us analysts have been warning for >1yr that Israel was becoming an out of control, destabilizing regional hegemon, and the Biden admin just let them run amok
Exclusive: Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, and special envoy Steve Witkoff give a behind-the-scenes look at the tense moments leading up to the ceasefire and hostage deal after an Israeli bombing threatened to derail the agreement. “[Trump] felt like the Israelis

The only thing surprising abt any of this is that anyone wld be surprised at this stage. The wishful thinking has got to stop. If Trump wanted to put the kibosh on Putin he wld have by now, as he demonstrated w/Netenyahu after Israel attacked Qatar.
🚨One of the sources said the meeting "was not easy," while the other simply said "it was bad." 🚨"Nobody shouted, but Trump was tough," according to the first source 🚨"Trump gave several strong statements during meeting and at some points it got a bit emotional," the second

This was such a great discussion - Maha and Pierre found a way to strike the delicate balance between recognizing the positive in the Trump Gaza plan while injecting a very healthy and needed dose of reality check. Have a listen!

Let's think logically for a second. Why would Hamas give up all the living hostages, which provided the bulk of their leverage to gain a ceasefire, only to blow it over by keeping a few dead bodies? They want fire to resume without any leverage? Why? What are they going to do
🚨Israel gave the U.S. new intelligence that shows Hamas has access to more of the bodies than it claims 🚨"We don't see Hamas making maximum effort regarding the bodies. We know they can do more & we don't think anybody should give them any discounts," aמ Israeli official said

🚨Two advisers to President Trump told reporters they don't think Hamas has violated the agreement yet regarding the bodies of the hostages. They said there is no heavy equipment in Gaza that is needed for such a search effort. "It's almost impossible for Hamas to reach all the
🚨Israel on Wednesday told the Trump administration that Hamas isn't doing enough to recover the bodies of dead Israeli hostages, and the Gaza deal can't move into the next phase until that changes. My story on @axios

If you’re saying the Emir of Qatar and the Turkish President were also mere “spectators” in this deal, because they too were seated where Macron was, then sure - keep on keeping on.
He "gets the optics" so well that he's chosen the most powerful position of all: spectator. A perfect metaphor for Europe's irrelevance.

Trump ribbed Macron (clearly banter) "I can't believe you're taking a low-key approach today!" to laughter. Meanwhile DJT asked where "the UK is" and Starmer stepped fwd from behind him saying "behind you, as always" Sanchez, Meloni also standing squarely behind him...
Macron, despite his domestic political shortcomings, showing again (after Oval in Aug), he's the only top Euro leader who gets optics/power dynamics. He's the only top Euro not standing behind Trump during press stmt. Instead, like the Arabs and Erdogan, he took a seat facing him

Despite Kushner and Witkoff's proximity to Israel, they met w/the Hamas negotiator the Israeli govt tried to assassinate in its strike in Doha - a signal not lost on the Arab monarchies. That strike was of course a major turning point for Trump to turn on pressure on Netenyahu.
🚨Scoop: A dramatic meeting last Wednesday between President Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and Hamas leaders headed by Khalil al-Hayya helped seal the Gaza peace deal. My story on @axios

Immense challenges ahead in Gaza/WB so ppl shld temper triumphalism, but Trump brought real relief of ISR and PAL rn, and his personality, unorthodox diplomacy, rship w/Gulf monarchies were gamechangers vs Biden. His unorthodox diplomacy cld still be the undoing, of course.

Striking how Blinken is unable to utter the words "pressure on Netenyahu": the single differentiating factor of Trump's approach compared to Biden's. Imagine the suffering of ISR and PAL families cld've been shortened had the Biden admin simply done what Trump and his team did.
(1/12) In Gaza today, the guns are largely silent. If all goes as planned, the remaining Israeli hostages will return home. Palestinians will get the relief they desperately need and deserve. Nothing can erase the pain and loss of the past two years. But there is real hope of
