Over the weekend I read @charlesmurray’s forthcoming book from @EncounterBooks. It is really outstanding. A wonderful personal account of how and why someone started to, well, take religion seriously. Will make a great gift for the special agnostic in your life.

In a discussion over abortion, a pro-lifer admits that they believe in giving birth to extremely disabled children even if they suffer, because it brings joy to the parents through participating in the suffering. You can make your own judgments about this kind of morality.

Her son was alive in the womb. Her son is alive today over four years later. He is a source of joy. You wanted her to eugenically euthanize him. We don’t kill our children.
Is it moral to give birth under such conditions? You can sympathize with people who end up disabled. Someone who knowingly brings a pregnancy like this to term expecting it to be stillbirth is different. NYT is platforming this kind of religious fanaticism to defend Medicaid.
