Nothing could be more true!!
PLAYERS: Today marks the start of the @MLB #postseason. If you want to play in the Big Leagues... if you want to play in college... if you want to make your school team... spend the next month watching as much baseball as you possibly can. You can learn SO much just by watching.

What others think of you- good or bad- has no bearing on what you think of yourself. What matters is not what others say, but what YOU do. Rankings mean nothing. Articles mean less. Public criticism or praise? Pay either no mind. You control you. Period.

CHAMPION CHARACTER: Attitude Work ethic Competitiveness Attention to detail Display these character traits in practice, every day, in every drill; you can’t help but improve. If your work lacks these traits, you’re wasting an opportunity thats about to be taken by someone else.

Want a coach to go to war for you? Go to war for yourself. It’s amazing how easy it is to invest in a player who invests in himself. (Focus every rep, makes sacrifices, shows up on time, leads by example, etc.)

A coach sets the tone for his club on the field. But it’s the players are the ones who create the identity for their team by holding one another accountable before issues even gets to the coach. Accountability coming from teammates is often heard much louder than from coaches.

As good coaches, it’s important we enlighten players to this fact and help them improve. #teachlifelessons
Observation... Players that ARE good work really hard. They know success is fragile and are humble yet confident. Players that THINK they are good don’t work hard. They don’t appreciate success and blame others for their failure.

With all mechanical talk and study surrounding baseball these days, I don’t think we should forget one of my favorite quotes about hitting. “Hitting is an art, but not an exact science.” -Rod Carew

Absolutely a great read about pitching. Moral of the story, get your players buy-in to what you are teaching through facts. Eye test isn’t good enough anymore. The Science of Building a Better Pitcher

Wes Johnson, the first pitching coach to jump from college to the majors, is part of a tech-savvy generation that eschews the eyeball test.

Sure. What the heck. Albert Pujols: 185 multi-strikeout games in 2,723 games (19 seasons) Bryce Harper: 241 multi-strikeout games in 961 games (8 seasons)
@jaysonst do you know how many times Albert Pujols has struck out twice in a game in comparison to Bryce Harper?

Baseball is such a simple sport!!!
DO YOUR JOB. Pitchers: throw quality strikes. Defense: take care of the ball, and throw it to the correct base. Be in the proper backup spot. Hitters: have competitive ABs. Hit to the situation/count. Make your outs productive. Baserunners: make smart, aggressive decisions.
