A quick thread of my Destiny 2: Renegades coverage! Thanks to everyone who’s shared and read it so far. No paywall, no ads! If you enjoy it, consider signing up for free (or a subscription) at Rogue! First, my preview, which I’m really proud of:

Bungie's approach to marrying Destiny 2 and Star Wars is far more thoughtful than I anticipated

Man, we the people really should've come together and made some kind of ... idk ... regulatory body that makes sure that one shitty company can't just monopolize and then choke out an entire industry via unethical practices. Shame America never made something like that!
An ad loss vs direct monetization equation. As Google moves to put more ads on AI Overviews directly, including sponsored, ad spend and brand deals go to fewer websites. So if participating publishers think direct payment offsets, fine. It's other sites I worry about.

Hard to imagine anything more classically Titan in Destiny than to be OP for 15 months, through some of the worst times of the franchise, only to get completely shafted in the fun Star Wars expansion. Haven't mained Warlock since Arrival, but it's just so much more fun right now

Man, I appreciate the "max out a faction and you can get T5s!" thing in Renegades. But it's really bad that, even after you get that upgrade, 95% of the loot from vendors and evenly the Tier 3 weekly shipments drop T4. What is the point of all this currency for a 550?

As much as I’d love for this faction rally thing to work … I feel like it’s all gonna come down to the fact that one faction has the best Lawless ability in the game, and one has abilities nobody uses … ever. Feels like it’s gonna be: 1) Totality 2) Reformation 3) Pikers

It wasn’t even the biggest issue with tonight’s game, but I don’t know how the fuck the Hunt family spends so much money keeping Mahomes in KC, but refuses to spend the money for players who will keep him safe. Running for his life every play for YEARS, man!

Matthew Lillard reacts to Quentin Tarantino's comments about him "Quentin Tarantino says he doesn't like me as an actor ... it hurts your feelings, it fucking sucks, and he wouldn't say that to Tom Cruise ... or a top-line actor ... I'm very popular with [my fans] and not very

Really cannot express how shitty this account/TGP is. “In a new interview, Bungie” 1) Not a new interview. It’s my interview from before the expansion 2) Any decent site would say where the interview is from there, at the top. But they bury it halfway down the page Parasites

There’s literally a “support independent games media” ad to sign up for their stupid website before they link out to the independent games media site (mine) that conducted the interview they’re now profiting off of! Pathetic, man.

One of these people gives an incredible performance in Twin Peaks: The Return, a TV season that’s better than most movies. The other one is such a creep that one of his former stars had to warn her daughter to “keep her shoes on” while working with him. God love Matthew Lillard
Matthew Lillard says it "f---ing sucks" that Quentin Tarantino said he wasn't a fan of his acting: “I’m very popular in this room. I’m not very popular in Hollywood. Two totally different microcosms, right? And so, you know, its humbling, and it hurts.” https://t.co/8m1HtZCrsI

I was in Skarrow’s chat when he was reading my interview. I used to send old Polygon interviews of mine to Houndish for his community. I never got mad at any news outlet for picking up my quotes when I talked to Luke, or Joe, or anyone. But all those people gave proper credit

Google doesn’t like it when you link out too early. And they don’t want anyone clicking off to the original source instead of reading their garbage. So they bury the links. I’m more than happy for CC and other sites to pick up my quotes. But be professional about it.

🚨Dredgen Bael will return in future Destiny 2 stories, says Bungie: "It's a character that we want to take with us outside of Renegades, too. We're going to see him again" - https://t.co/jPBa0mCsXe

I think Destiny 3 is definitely “in development” (no inside info). But that could mean A LOT of things. Not holding my breath, but hopeful. Best case scenario? We play out the next two expansions, then a Sony support studio puts out Destiny 1/2 Classic to hold us over 🤞

DUDE I'm so serious, Lawless Frontier has got to be one of the best activities Bungie have ever made PERIOD I'm sitting here tweeting at 2am while loading into yet another job and thinking to myself "one more before bed" like??? The Sieve could never 🤣 Genuinely so much fun,

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos says BARBIE and OPPENHEIMER would have been just as big on Netflix. “There’s no reason to believe that the movie itself is better in any size of screen for all people. My son’s an editor, he watched ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ on his phone.” via @nytimes

After a few days sitting with my thoughts, I wrote up my impressions for Renegades. I have some gripes to be sure - especially around those Lawless Frontiers mid-campaign - but I'm really enjoying being delighted by my favorite game again. https://t.co/ETHQUoCc7D

Renegades brings Star Wars into the Destiny world so well that I'm sad the collaboration is nearly over

We can all agree that lower player numbers are bad. No dispute there. But analysis beyond that is virtually worthless without knowing internal costs and goals. “Low number means bad ROI on the Star Wars investment” Except we don’t know the “I” so … maybe? No? We don’t know.

Just lock the loadouts on encounter start, man, like every other MMO. Notswap isn't a solution that anyone likes.
