Parents had a lot of mouths to feed and not much money to do it. If you told the 10 y/o me that someday I could have as much of this as I could possibly want, I simply wouldn't have believed you.

At the base of most mountain ranges in the Southwest, you can find many hidden oases. Running water & big trees in the desert. A few hundred yards downstream, it all disappears. Great when you find one.

There are 6-7 of these up the canyon, with a dry-fall above & below each, before you get to the next corral. (satellite) I think you can grind through it if you have enough time. 9 mi. r/t.

The homestead is near the corral. Granted, I haven't ridden horses much, but it's a hell of a job to even get to the other corrals on foot, let alone how it must be on horseback. Tough people.

One of 4 corrals in a 10 sq. mi. area. I've been to 3 of them. The 4th is two miles up this canyon. I can't figure-out how to get to it on foot. You don't typically think of desert as being unpassable.

Winter was canceled and the snakes are awake. That's all until November.
