Speaking of George Miller, remember that time a 70 year old director looked at modern action movies and went "lol that's cute" and left them all in the dust with MAD MAX: FURY ROAD? That was awesome.

There won't be because it's horny, fun and silly three things sci-fi blockbusters are absolutely not allowed to be anymore less they get mistaken as non serious business for grownups.

The 90s sitcom I wish Gen Z/young millennials would discover and get into is NewsRadio. It's wickedly funny and I'd hate to see it fall down the memory hole.

A director actually using the visual language of comic books, panels, splash pages, in a comic book movie instead of sensibly making everything a muddy brown two shot with a CGI backdrop.

It's interesting how Old Hollywood nostalgia is fading because those movies aren't everywhere anymore, on the late night movie, the afternoon creature feature, there's TCM, but TCM fans aren't the same thing as Grand Hotel was just on TV all the time.

And I especially love how chuds who snarl at the slightest hint of diversity puts you in the awkward position of having to defend the bare minimum because it ensures the megacorp can continue to get away with doing the bare minimum.

Ana Mardoll's terrible retellings of fairy tales and fables to give them pat conflict free resolutions made so much more sense when the penny dropped about where he worked.

The Nolan Batman films are a strange victim of their own success, they have a lot more humanity and humor than they're given credit for. In part because all their imitators ran with the growly voices and muted colors and left that behind.

I love this photo of the Aliens cast at the premiere so much not the least because now they look like they're dressed for a Miami Vice themed murder mystery dinner party.

And the '97 version has far too much of this thing called a "visual sensibility." Designs based on Gerald Scarfe's concept art and animation cheekily riffing on the triangular forms on Ancient Greek pottery. If it's not colorless and photorealistic it's not a real movie!

You got some real fucking nerve considering how not only did you sit on your hands when the racists came for her, you tried to appease them by effectively writing her out of Ep 9.

It's only expensive because wages stayed stagnant. I fully understand staying home for economic or covid reasons but movie theaters were one of the few places people of all classes could mix. And where working class people had a formerly reliable and affordable outlet for art.

#TheGrayMan co-director Joe Russo calls it "an elitist notion to be able to go to a theater. It’s very fucking expensive. So, this idea that was created — that we hang on to — that the theater is a sacred space, is bullshit."

I dunno man, it used to be nice that things actually ended. And that the idea of a multiverse was "infinite mind bending possibilities" instead of "let's make the same thing from 34 years ago over and over and over and over and over and over again."

Putting all the Ezra trouble aside (if one can), you have to be pretty dead inside not to be excited by seeing and hearing Keaton as Batman again.
