I wish this is something we could go back to, unexplained details aren't "plot holes" especially in genre stores they're quick ways to build a sense of culture and history without getting bogged down in exposition and they leave imaginative space for the viewer.
Whenever I see this meme it's like, nah, audiences in 1977 just took it for granted as a textural detail and didn't expect every throwaway line to be explained through an entire television series or its own movie.

Cyd Charisse dancing is a good example of the modern American movie problem of it's not just the lack of sex scenes. It's the lack of any kind of sexual heat or suggestion of the body as a place of desire. Or bodies in spaces as more than just props spouting snarky dialogue.
