My wife and personal hero, @sara__stock, gave birth to our baby girl yesterday and I’ve been on a very sleepy cloud 9 since. There were many “I can’t do this!” and “Nothing’s happening!” but it was and she could 🤣 I’m the most appreciative husband in the world. I love you both!

Hitting your cutoff man is an “analytic”. Doing the “little things right” are all “analytics”. If you’re a coach making little tallies every time a player takes a quality AB or makes a good baserunning play you’re being analytical. As you should. This is a tepid take.
With all due respect to analytics, the Brewers are at least trying to play the game properly, says @Ken_Rosenthal. "While organizations seem to obsess over enhancing pitching velocity and hitters' exit velocities, why can't they do the same on the fundamental side?"

I once bet multiple millionaires $100 that tax brackets don’t work like this, and we had to consult multiple CPAs until they believed me. And these weren’t even baseball players. One of the most persistent, dumb myths perpetuated today.
You know what’s crazy? The fact that in Canada… some people actively avoid getting raises even when they deserve one—because being pushed into a new tax bracket is sometimes not worth it to them.

From now on, if your dad tells you a story about his playing days- DOUBLE CHECK IT! Two times in one season is too many for baseball twitter.
This is incredibly awkward, but this is just completely untrue and is easily verified as untrue. It wasn't easy finding instances where he pitched 3 days in a row, and I only found a single time where he pitched 4 in a row, which was to end the season in 1986.

No no it’s just that they used to measure yards differently, kickers have always been this good. Better in the past, in fact. It’s just the r̶a̶d̶a̶r̶ ̶g̶u̶n̶s̶ yard-measuring-stick that’s different now.
I don't know if there's a single position in all of sports that has seen a more dramatic increase in athleticism over the last 2 decades than the NFL placekicker.

A lot of things that are mechanically inefficient are what make outlier pitches. The way Brash accelerates his arm at the end makes his breaking stuff disgusting, but would blow up his arm if he was a starter. Being able to “redline” your body is important as a MLB reliever.
I see videos like this and remind myself that bucketing mechanics is one of the worst things to do to an athlete. Get the pelvis open and move with intent into a firm lead leg and good things happen. Year of the compensator.
