Great piece of policy this. Gas prices have driven wholesale prices sky high in recent years, and the more cheap renewables we can get on to the grid, the more they get pushed out.
Great news for households producing their own renewable energy. The €400 income disregard for microgeneration is now permanent. Meaning you can earn up to €400 tax-free by selling power back to the grid☀️⚡

This is the greatest argument I’ve heard for why electric vehicles are better than gasoline-powered cars.

Three and a half BILLION to invest in the electricity grid announced in today's revised National Development Plan. A stronger grid means more clean, affordable and secure power for Irish families and businesses. Big win to get over the line by Minister @DarraghOBrienTD.
The €3.5 billion electricity grid investment announced in the revised National Development Plan is a crucial step toward reducing renewable energy waste, enabling offshore wind, and delivering a clean, secure power system for Ireland’s future. Learn more here:

Germany's emissions intensity of electricity generation fell to an all-time low in June 2025 of 262 gCO2e/kWh 🇩🇪⚡️ The reasons: - Record high solar (31%) - June record for wind (27%) - Record low coal (12.4%)

- Oil price: Sustained low oil prices have historically correlated with investment into renewables as investors seek value - Value: lower prices for assets this year is showing good value for those investors Lets see where this goes over the next 12.
Offshore wind has had a tough couple of years, but the fundamentals are shifting now towards an upcycle: - Cheaper money: Euro short term rate has nearly halved in 12 months - Cheaper inputs: Steel is down nearly 50% from its pandemic highs five years ago

The IEA projects data centre power demand to more than double by 2030. Global investment in data centres has nearly doubled since 2022 - half a trillion dollars in 2024. A massive opportunity for economies with the ability to scale renewables and grid infrastructure quickly.

Chinese companies installed 93 gigawatt of solar and 27 gigawatt of wind energy in a single month in May https://t.co/PPMe7vNu2B

Between January and May, China added 198 GW of solar and 46 GW of wind, enough to generate as much electricity as Indonesia or Turkey

Amazing combination of business innovation and technology innovation. Fair play @OctopusEnergy
In the UK, retail electricity company @OctopusEnergy is now offering a £299 / month lease on a BYD Dolphin EV, + free home charging, + vehicle to grid. They're using the vehicle battery as a VPP, to balance the grid and shift peak electricity loads. Sweet deal all around.

To all the reply guys saying how renewables are a terrible idea. I hate to break it to you but >90% of new generation capacity built is now renewable energy, mainly solar & wind. Data from @IRENA

The end of the internal combustion engine? Global sales of petrol and diesel cars peaked in 2017/18 and are now falling. The shift to electric and low-carbon transport is well underway—and EV sales are rising fast.
