Well, I was wrong. I want to describe 3 key reasons essential for Ds/media to understand 1. This was not a rejection of Harris but an *affirmation* of Trump 22 confused me/us; THAT year inflation/Covid/crime should have delivered red waves. But w/o Trump, Rs can’t close dels

That Biden nominated Kahn and her (very small but very loud) denizens stabbed the Admin/party in the back 42 times shows that populism is a thankless, ungrateful ideology. Trump can barely keep his RW populists in line and he’s a semi mythical demigod for Cons
Lina Khan really infuriates me because she is the personification of the problem of the Left being embraced by Democrats and then Democrats getting punched in the face in response.

A whole generation one shotted by The Big Short but are too risk averse to put $ either into the hype or to put their $ behind their dooming mouths (Ofc this IS a bubble but the certainty of crash predictions (glee too?) is just annoying idk)

Everyone says “this market makes no sense!” But low key a much weirder time was Sept ‘14 through Sept ‘16 when things were just FLAT for 2 yrs Ppl complaining today are like “Wahhh my girlfriend is too hot! She’s gonna cheat on me SOME day so I’m not enjoying anything”
S&P - all time highs Gold - all time highs Silver - all time highs Mag 7 - oh god all time highs Bitcoin - same US home prices - record levels I don’t know what to invest in anymore.

Trump began ‘25 promising to depopulate Gaza. Todays may seem like a let down vs that but Ws should always be taken The hostages are back & aLL enemies degraded. Tomorrow begins the different campaign to undo Qatari influence in the West. A different, but perhaps steeper, climb

The new focus of Israeli diplomacy must be securing US vetos at the UN and continue to paint Free Palestine as akin to global anti western jihadism…which leftists & global Arabs will happily oblige (b/c they do believe in the Omni cause)

This war proved Israel must massively build up domestic armaments. It can not & should not rely on US patriot batteries should another war w/ Iran occur The degree to which the Jewish lasers can shoot down ICBMs vs katyushas tbd but…better hope they can!

As for the political…well…not so good. Global antisemitism is at multi generational highs and the huge Muslim populations now residing in Europe will make global Jewry suffer until they leave that now doomed continent The US has given Israel a gift that is not clear yet

Militarily Israel did about as well as could have realistically hoped for. KIAs of ~1,100 is a ridiculous kill ratio for destroying enormous amounts of capabilities in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Syria & Yemen That no planes were lost either is an underrated W in far flung theaters

Over 24 months Israel degraded the axis of resistance in extreme ways. Nasrallah & the entirety of Hezbollah leadership is dead Assad & Syria’s weapons caches are gone. The entirety of Hamas’ military leadership is dead. Iran’s missile & nuclear program severely degraded

I will say; I did not think this would happen. Hamas giving up their entire leverage is not something ANY Middle East observer would think Gilad Shalit was held for over 5 yrs by Hamas after all. As to the future, maybe anything is possible 🧵
🚨 NOW: President Trump meets with the hostage families after ALL 20 living hostages were released by Hamas thanks to his deal “I want to sincerely thank you!” 🇺🇸

I’m not even against any of this tbh. It’s only fodder for ridicule when done PUBLICLY And also none of this is “real”. An influencer w/ 150k followers saying “Girlie it’s not you, it’s eldest daughter syndrome” is also performing. Ppl can/should go on own journey in private

All of these are hyper Millenial coded iterations of midlife crisis explanations As I’ve noted: Millenials aren’t buying Corvettes or having affairs like 40yr old Boomers did in 1997; instead life’s inevitable disappointments are laundered through therapy speak healing
I wrote about how Eldest Daughter Syndrome is swiftly turning into the next "gifted child." Link in replies

Move fast and break things was the winning model for tech Uber is good and never would have existed if Travis had listened to ppl saying “you’re breaking like 20 laws by existing” But Chesterton was smart to build fences…pity we have to find out hard way which ones are good

“You can just do things, esp if the opposite of what credentialed elite say” is correct ~80% of time Ofc the 20% where it doesn’t work (Steve Jobs eating tumeric roots vs getting chemo) is often very bad. But what is the 21st century if not a full refutation of stodgy notms?
Seems like the Trump/Kushner vulgar dealmaking style is just more effective for Middle East geopolitics than the outwardly highminded "Peace Studies" approach preferred by Democrats and their nonprofit proxies. Harris win would surely have meant no ceasefire now.

Trump accidentally channeling Buddha and the esoteric mysteries of life for like 3 seconds…before re-litigating personal slights for the 10,000th time The man in a nutshell
🚨 JUST IN: The moment President Trump says he doesn't think he can get into heaven "I don't think there's anything that's gonna get me in heaven. I really don't. I think I'm not, maybe, heaven-bound." "I may be in heaven right now as we fly in Air Force One. I'm not sure I'm

Even today, if your career path went: Salon/Nation/Jezebel -> Atlantic/NYMag -> NYT/NewYorker…that was very doable You could def parlay a jump from 2nd or 3rd tier of that progression to corporate Comms or Media Relatiobs to any big company and get paid a top 5% salary

I like Dhaaruni but this is way wrong The NPV of working as a Dem *staffer* from 2008-2020 was enormous. Ppl who had Obama WH on their resume needed only to embrace corporatism to parlay that into the cushiest $400k+ job in human history Writers got less $ but still GREAT jobs
The low salary is also why most Democratic staffers are ideologues and/or people with family $. Republicans have a professional ecosystem that sets up youths for life, liberals lack that infrastructure, and working in politics for very low pay isn't appealing to "normies."

Tucker, Candance yes even Kirk on the other side: it was a *choice* to even make this a thing that outlived Biden No US troops were involved. $3B in aid is 1/10th a penny of Fed spending. This was a malevolent psy op wedge online Rs bought hook line & sinker

By far the most frustrating talking point b/c *it was the left that made this salient & Rs never actually had to care* From Oct ‘23 to Oct ‘24, Rs DELIGHTED in the left supporting jihadis & making Biden/Harris walk a tightrope No one ever asked Cons prioritize this over MAGA
