4 years of my graduate training were supported by an NIEHS diversity supplement. This program helped me learn how to write NIH grants ~2 years earlier than normal, paid for conference travel and enabled me to build a network separate from my PhD advisor, and paid for supplies 1/

Only 10% of the NIH budget is allocated to "women's health," nearly all of which goes toward pregnancy research. Amid such blatant neglect of the health of the uterus and ovaries, hysterectomy is often the best and only choice. Heard this over and over for my book Get It Out.
the solution for ME to no longer have a period (a thing that causes me debilitating pain) is a hysterectomy. I didn’t come to this decision lightly. In fact, I tried everything to NOT get here. A period isn’t necessary for many of us - especially if it causes you pain!

Thrilled to share that you can now pre-order my book!! As THE @reproutopia put it: “Get It Out engages a completely ordinary yet conspicuously neglected practice of everyday healthcare, and demands that an overdue womb-reckoning take place.” https://t.co/u0u23VOY3p

Since Tuesday's election, abortion providers have reported an increase in people requesting pills But it is important to understand why people are doing this-because frankly, it says a lot about how difficult things already are More from me in @Slate

The U.S. right now is a constantly shifting landscape of abortion legality and reproductive health access.

Considering how obsessed the right is with the declining birth rate, it's incredible how many women I know for whom Tr*mp's win is the nail in the coffin of whether to have children.

Officially made the decision tonight not to have children because the risk of being pregnant with Black maternal mortality rates in the in country, with the Supreme Court we are about to have enact a national abortion ban…it’s so painful.

On this #ElectionDay, evidence suggests that access to reproductive healthcare is a top concern for many U.S. voters. For women under age 30, specifically, a new @KFF survey finds that abortion is the most important issue to their vote.✍🏼 #TeachingTuesday
