Yesterday I sent out a poorly worded tweet expressing my belief in the American dream.
Based on the responses there are a lot of people who believe the American dream is out of reach. That is something we need to change.

03-06 UT (10pm-1am local time) the KP index is 7 or a low chance of visibility.
09 - 12UT (4am -7am local time) the index jumps to 9, or extreme.
Thus, it appears the early morning hours are going to be the best window.

I was just contacted by a Rep. from Oklahoma who is looking to do away with daylight savings time. They wanted to see what, if anything, we were doing. Evidently several states around us are looking at it. We tried a few years ago. Has the time come to try again?

Depends... Any one location can expect to see a total solar eclipse about once every 350 years. So totality would be rarer. Globally though totality happen every few years, so from that perspective, this aurora event is much rarer.
This is a great question. I'm going to say the northern lights to this magnitude is much more rare than the total solar eclipse. Let's ask an expert!
