Five diseases in Canada to which any wheat cultivar is recommended & tested to have a minimum level of genetic resistance. These: leaf, stem & stripe rust, FHB and common bunt. these are not the only diseases but those the one yearly test is provided in seed guide to growers 1/7

Ironic how this presented as a discovery, western media, gov, business, education, all have been anti Palestinians anti Arab anti others for decades and still are for the large part. this is not new, at least for the arab we know that and actively acting on present one side.
CBC has quietly censored pro-Palestinian voices under pressure from HonestReporting Canada—a group openly aligned with the Israeli state. In doing so, the broadcaster has traded journalistic integrity for appeasement, and lost credibility on all sides.

One step FW, but more importantly need to stop the selling of arms, or the parts that are used in it. it is still going and in millions of dollars mostly indirect via USA. words without action means nothing!.
Canada has rightfully joined 20 countries in condemning the “inhumane killing of civilians, including children” in Gaza. But words alone won't stop Israel's genocidal slaughter and forced starvation policies. Canada must impose sanctions now.

This is likely the early 1970s or late 60s, I was not borne even. my parent studying at the library at Damascus Univ back then! second on the balcony. My Mom was so elegant and she kept that elegance to the last days. There was no war & ppl were fw thinking then.

So much valuable and useful research done by this lab at usda, markets to select against tan spot susceptibility is an outcome of decades of research, not a trivial effort for sure but with huge applied impact!.
Happy to provide tools for wheat breeders to efficiently remove the disease susceptibility gene Tsn1 from their materials. @KLDRunning did a fantastic job leading this project.

Establishing such a nursery for both winter & spring wheat is the result of a collective effort: funders, breeders, research assistants, field crew @AAFC_Canada , and students all play vital roles. That said, @GourlieRyan consistent hard work day after day has been a key factor!.

On adult leaves, the infection appears as distinct stripes, hence the name strip rust, in contrast to the early leaf tissues where the fungus spreads across the entire surface.
