Just finished an overnight shift in the peds emergency department. Whatever you are imagining when you hear the news about RSV, and increased viral illnesses, and high pediatric volumes…it’s 1000 times worse.

We passed a bill in committee yesterday that felonizes elected officials if they vote against Trump’s immigration policy. Let that sink in. Duly elected officials will go to jail- will have a criminal record- if they do not vote for and support Trump’s policies.

Looking ahead to 2025... The PECARN HEADACHE study has completed enrollment & is moving to data analysis. This trial will provide evidence to accurately identify which children w/ headaches need emergent #neuroimaging & those who don't (because red flag findings don’t work!)

Choose a different airline than @united They randomly decide to pull checked bags off flight. Doesn’t matter how early arrived at airport or if bag is priority & they don’t alert you & have 1 staff member to deal with the fallout of masses with no bags. 0/10 do NOT recommend

Insurance decision-makers need to be closer to the true impacts of their policies. What PA is facing, as children become severely ill due to lack of access to a common and necessary medication, is the perfect example of what happens when they aren’t. https://t.co/DgG67hL9DJ

It's unconscionable that children should die of uncontrolled asthma in the U.S. when there are cheap and effective medications available to control this disease.

❤️❤️❤️❤️ Got a little dust in my eyes here.
“You’re the savior of the people, you bring tears to my eyes.” “No no, you saved Europe.” “My hero.” “No, you are our hero.” “I pray for you.” Heartbreaking between @ZelenskyyUa & a #DDay veteran, who knows the cost. He kisses his hand & won’t let go.

🎉 Big change from @USDOT: If your flight gets delayed or canceled, airlines now have to refund you automatically in CASH. Refunds cover: - Delayed flights (3+hrs domestic, 6+ hrs int’l) - Airport changes - Added connections - Service class downgrade - Accessibility changes
Our department just issued rules to protect people from hidden airline fees and to require airlines to give passengers automatic cash refunds when owed. No more having to fend for yourself and jump through hoops to get your money back—airlines will have to automatically do this.

Children in high-risk neighborhoods are almost 50% less likely to survive with a good neurologic outcome after cardiac arrest. We present this devastating data as an oral presentation tomorrow at #AHA23. Come join me for the discussion. We must do more.
Preliminary research to be presented at #AHA23 uncovers racial, ethnic, and/or neighborhood disparities in cardiac arrest survival and recovery rates among children. Click for the news release: https://t.co/GododFGzDE

RIP…😔I was in the area last week and I’m so sad to hear…to be clear: the only reason civilians are dying and humanitarians helping them: is because Russia is attacking a free and democratic country…every Russian soldier must leave ukraine giving back occupied territory….now
Today, russian terrorists attacked a vehicle of the international humanitarian organisation Road2Relief in Chasiv Yar, killing two volunteers - the director of Road2Relief, Emma Igual, a Spanish citizen who studied at the University of California at Berkeley, and Anthony Ihnat, a
