It would be nice to get real solutions on the cost of living Housing is more expensive Layoffs are increasing Electricity prices are spiking Grocery prices are nuts Instead we are shutting down roundabouts instead of helping working Houstonians keep money in their pocket.
We’ve heard residents, pedestrians, and local businesses loud and clear. This broken roundabout at Patton and Irvington has caused chaos for too long. We’re fixing it and bringing real solutions to the Near Northside.

"run a moderate" and it's the guy to the right of Republicans on our Council
Texas Democrats need to try running some actual moderates — it’s a red state! https://t.co/K0CV5LbZHY

A perfect example why we need the Transparency Ordinance. TxDOT funded and approved this $200,000 safety improvement project because it's the best solution here. Based on facts. But this guy has the power to waste our money and safety. https://t.co/IOVVb7Eaj4

Whitmire and Gafrick removed the features which address crashes. Same playbook we've seen over and over.

Mayor Whitmire relies on back channels and secrecy to backpedal our safe streets infrastructure. Please take a moment to send a ONE-CLICK email in support of the transparency ordinance which will be considered in committee tomorrow https://t.co/q9UmAjGrAp

What was the design criteria that they used to determine that a red light was the “best solution”? How were various designed scores against each other? Were any other designs considered? Was speed mitigation a factor in the design process? Was pedestrian safety a factor?

Crash not accident. Accidents just happen but crashes are preventable which is the reason Bissonnet was awarded the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant. Design follows the data which shows where crashes happen and why. @PollardforHTX

Whitmire removed the traffic calming features from the W. Gray project which was funded with HSIP money. Great question! https://t.co/cgJx9iCEtl

Learn about the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), a federal initiative funding projects to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries in Houston and Texas.
I missed this when it happened. W. Gray from Shepherd to Waugh was the scope of a TxDOT HSIP grant to improve road safety. I haven’t seen any changes. Where’s the money gone?

Another Houston corridor which needs traffic calming. If the Mayor thinks a HAWK would solve this, he's wrong. It's well known drag racing happens here, where is that vaunted enforcement?

More than 30 Houstonians a month die in car crashes. More than 10 of them were walking and biking. One of the 2 top reasons children die are car crashes. It's a public health crisis and we should recognize it. We appreciate @abbiekamin leading this conversation.
On a 2,300 mile group faith walk for peace, It’s in HOUSTON where a Buddhist monk is hit by a driver. As a city we must address pedestrian safety and stop accepting injuries and deaths as normal. My sincerest wishes for this monk on his path to healing.

The flaw in the logic is that there aren’t viable alternatives, but I find it interesting they built and entire facsimile of a walkable urban neighborhood as a high end shopping mall in River oaks and they can’t see that as a market signal to do that with real neighborhoods

At Houston City Hall, Mayor Whitmire made baseless accusations against FIEL during a tense exchange with our Executive Director, Cesar Espinosa. We stood with Maria Garcia to demand answers about her son Emmanuel, a 15-year-old with special needs who was wrongly placed in ORR

I don’t see how they can make much if any improvement under the mayor’s “guiding mobility principles”. They’ll get the feds to pay for some sidewalks and some new paint but until we take vision zero seriously the crashes are going to keep happening
The 7-mile project stretches from South Dairy Ashford to Hillcroft, cutting across Council Districts F, J and C. It is aimed at reducing deadly crashes and making the corridor safer for pedestrians, transit riders and people with limited mobility — groups that make up a
