People really need to stop laughing at Black artists 50+ still performing for social media viral clips simply because they have a different pep in their step. I’ll take my legends moving & grooving to whatever senior citizen beat they need to any day just grateful they’re aging.

I don’t think anyone who is not a millennial & up should be part of any tribute for D’Angelo. Being born in 95 needs to be the cut off. It needs to be people who can really sing without auto tune & who actually are fans not just called up to do it because they have name buzz.

Raphael Saadiq needs a very public & massively marketed ahead of time musical achievement award for his contributions to the art we’ve enjoyed. Artists from across the decades should be invited to perform. And give him a proper video montage that accurately represents his impact!

Please, somebody give this man his flowers. I don’t want us to be talking about his legacy after he’s gone. Raphael Saadiq is the closest parallel we have to Quincy Jones in any subsequent generations. His musical footprint is DECADES wide, across genres.
