You don’t. Control is about money. If you don’t need anyone’s money.. No one can gain any control. A manager is to help you organize and do more, or things you prefer not to do… My manager makes 10% of things he’s involved in. Not everything and he works for me..

A lotta Arists start out flat broke.. Sometimes the manager is the money for a long time. At that point they could be in it for 50%.. The thing with the entertainment game is most artists don’t start with their own money. Usually whatever money you get to start. You’ll pay back
@FINALLEVEL Id like to ask a follow up….. This was good insight. How layered are the contracts that the management can walk away if the artist isnt abiding? I could see some artists needing the control.

That really depends on how much Control their Management has over them. Some artists actually end up working for their management instead of the other way around.
@FINALLEVEL @FINALLEVEL I have a very valid question and a good reason for asking. Does a celebrity, high profile musician, have to get permission from their management to visit an old friend in another state or take a vacation?
