Thinking more about this, replacing The Engineer with Protex would’ve been really cool.
Rereading some JLI and also rereading the first arc of Morrison’s JLA and I’ve reached the conclusion that I think Hyperclan would be a really cool concept to see in the movies, but would NOT read well given what just went down in Superman. Also Dr. Fate should stay a woman.
