Such interference makes a fair hearing impossible. If the MPTS rules on the basis of law alone, the outcome on 23 October should mirror that of 25 September. If however a different outcome is reached, in view of the above, serious questions must be asked.

The independence of our judiciary appears to be under attack and it is unreasonable and irrational for those in power to press for a decision that is more palatable to the government and/or lobby groups. 🔗 https://t.co/U44gK5MGdz

This case has now become one of clear ministerial overreach, with interference in the independence of a medical tribunal. Attacks by politicians and ministers on judicial decisions is unacceptable as it undermines the rule of law.

On 9 Oct, the Dept of Health & Social Care (@DHSCgovuk) also sent a Letter Before Action (see pic in post 1) to the GMC & MPTS, similarly threatening Judicial Review over the 25.09.25 outcome. Again, while legally flawed, the letter itself made the political intention clear - see:

On 8 October, the CAA publicly took credit for this reversal, boasting that their legal threat had prompted the GMC to act. See their post here: 🔗 https://t.co/R2D8DE97kR

The very next day, 7 October, the GMC wrote to Dr RA, notifying her that they now intended to pursue a fresh application for interim measures, despite her being vindicated just six working days earlier.
