Oh oh, I know this one! It's called Baader–Meinhof phenomenon, also known as the frequency illusion. You brain subconsciously starts prioritising the thing in your environment so you think you are seeing it more but it's always been there, you never paid attention to it.
Another quirk of reality is that the moment you become obsessed with something, it'll appear around you and in everyone you meet.
