DUNE 2 is the realization of everything I've ever dreamed genre filmmaking can accomplish. Not since I was 10 years old and witnessed STAR WARS during its opening weekend have a felt this way about a motion picture. Proof positive that filmmakers can still conjure up magic.
Goodbye,
@JonSchnepp
. You were the best kind of friend. You inspired me, delighted me, educated me, and allowed me into your world. I hope tonight, you’ll be drinking with Jack Kirby. “The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.”
THE FLASH is wildly entertaining. A tone reminiscent of some of your favorite 80s movies (one I’m thinking of is cleverly worked into the film itself), Ezra Miller’s winning performance (no, really), to a surprisingly emotional payoff, it ends the
#Snyderverse
in grand fashion.
While I'll watch LOKI, I'm now completely disinterested in MARVEL, STAR TREK and STAR WARS. Five years ago, if you'd ever told me I'd feel that way, I'd have said you were insane. But here we are. Three franchises die...all for the same reasons...writing.
THE BATMAN is a staggering achievement in every respect. Studios would do well to remember what a singular auteurist vision can bring about in partnership with a supportive studio who trusts filmmakers and their strong creative vision. While not for everyone, I was blown away.
What needs to be understood is our new SUPERMAN and LOIS are, together, probably the most screen and chemistry tested actors of the modern age. Do not underestimate just how important this is to the success of
@JamesGunn
's SUPERMAN: LEGACY. I, for one, am VERY EXCITED about this.
The OBI-WAN KENOBI series is a massive disappointment. What could've been a tremendous character study is just a lackluster retread of tropes we've all seen countless times before. Do they really need a tracker to tell them Kenobi will take Leia back to Alderaan? Seriously? C'mon
I love STAR WARS. I saw it opening weekend. It changed my life. BACK IN 1977. Today's STAR WARS is a corporate product produced by a company who, by definition, makes a PRODUCT designed to appeal to EVERYONE. That is antithetical to great storytelling. STAR WARS is compromised.
It's very disheartening when people call me out for following individuals on this platform they disagree with. I follow ALL kinds of people...many of whom I vehemently disagree with. Why would I possibly only follow those I do agree with? How are you supposed to learn anything?!?
Ryan Rynolds and Hugh Jackman made two 90 second videos much funnier and more entertaining than all of THOR LOVE AND THUNDER and SHE HULK combined...and I'm a dyed in the wool MCU fan.
AI just changed the game in filmmaking 📽️
Creators can now generate cinema quality short films, trailers, and teasers with 100% AI in just a few hours 🤯
10 favorite examples that will blow your mind:
"Anakin blowing up the Death Star." You know..., Perri knows better than this. The publicists know better than this. This clip encapsulates everything currently wrong with Hollywood today. NOBODY KNOWS WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE DOING...on EVERY LEVEL. Learn to do your fucking jobs.
Oh, Please...no one is WINNING quite so much these days as
@BenAffleck
is. Search your feelings...you KNOW this to be true. But for god's sake, Warner Brothers, let the man make his BATMAN/DEATHSTROKE movie.
DUNE 2 is a JAW-DROPPINGLY STUNNING masterwork of superior ambition. A truly game-changing vision of what studio filmmaking can actually accomplish when filmmakers of immense talent have earned the right to show what they do best, the film will hopefully usher in a new era.
JOKER made over a billion dollars on a 65 million production budget. It makes me sad JOKER 2's budget is 200 million. I wish our industry could learn some important lessons.
Rick Deckard is NOT a fucking REPLICANT. Ridley and Harrison are RETCONNING their own goddamn movie. FFS. You known who knew this...? RUTGER fucking HAUER. Hence the goddamn speech he wrote. "I've seen things YOU PEOPLE
(humans) wouldn't believe." Enough already.
I reserve the right to follow anyone I want on Twitter. This doesn’t mean I agree or disagree with them. I follow all kinds of accounts I agree with, and also accounts I vehemently disagree with. I’m interested only in the wildly diverse opinions and perspective of others.
I really wish today’s film fans watched a lot more films from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. There was a maturity, wisdom and complexity level in the most classic of those films which is sorely lacking today. Alas.
#AQUAMAN
is a blast of a wacky confection of adrenaliized, crazy fun. The climax is a jaw-dropping explosion of imagination. From the use of Gerry Anderson’s STINGRAY to a blink and you’ll miss it cameo from a certain doll, I felt like I was ten years old again.
@creepypuppet
THE ACOLYTE trailer had no sense of time, scale, scope, intrigue, or anything which differentiated itself from a generic STAR WARS Tale. There’s JEDI being hunted. I’ve seen that. Give us a taste of who, what or why this show is going to show us something NEW and DIFFERENT.
My takeaway from this entire week is Elizabeth Olsen is not only an incredible actress...but she may just be the first person in history to wear a comic-accurate version of her character's costume...and make me BELIEVE it's real...
I absolutely ADORED ETERNALS, but I recognize it’s not everyone’s cup of Marvel tea. This might not make a whole lot of sense…but ETERNALS is the movie Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS wishes it was.

's 15 minute editorials are some of the best fan videos on
@YouTube
. His editorial staff is aces. Whether you love or hate Gary, you must admit...these videos are extremely well-crafted and monumentally entertaining.
Today would’ve been
@JonSchnepp
’s 57th Birthday. Not a day goes by when I don’t think of him. Really would’ve loved to hear his commentary on so many things these days.
NO TIME TO DIE was a crushing disappointment on an existential level. Craig’s tenure as Bond has shifted the entire series into almost another genre altogether…call it “the reluctant hero.” That’s the real problem…fundamentally that’s not at all who Bond is.
Robert Downey said on Joe Rogan the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes down to the assembling of a “curated group of souls.” That’s the single greatest explanation of the MCU’s success I’ve ever heard. It should be true of every movie ever made.
@Kevfeige
The misconception that there is no sound in space originates because most space is a ~vacuum, providing no way for sound waves to travel. A galaxy cluster has so much gas that we've picked up actual sound. Here it's amplified, and mixed with other data, to hear a black hole!
Let me be nice and crystal clear...if you don't want to hear what I have to say...then...DO NOT FOLLOW ME. It's quite simple. Don't tell me how to behave or what opinions I'm suppose to have. If you don't like what I have to say...UNFOLLOW. It's very simple and very easy.
I suppose the three years I spent immersed as part of the team creating documentaries for the Extended Editions of the LOTR films has made me a little biased, but watching the past three episodes of RoP, which bare little resemblance at all to Tolkien has been absolutely painful.
Sony's decision to part ways with Marvel regarding Spiderman over the financing of the films was incredibly short-sighted. INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE won an Oscar...but it didn't make a billion dollars. Tom Rothman thinks he's
@Kevfeige
. But he's not. He'll find out the hard way.
This is nonsense. STAR WARS literally begins with the Opening Crawl's line, "It is a period of CIVIL WAR." Describing Rebels, the Empire's Sinister Agents, and Princess Leia. No mention of Jedi, The Force, or anything at all about the Sith. ANDOR is ALL ABOUT that Civil War.
@OKane_98
Andor is not Star Wars. It's a world building show. It doesn't compete with actual Star Wars, Jedi, Sith, the force, etc. It's just a good sci-fi show, nothing more.
Judging by the first 20 minutes, DR. STRANGE: MOM is a rip-roaring, wildly entertaining, and lore-packed entry into the MCU. Wong continues to be a delight and Raimi was the perfect director for this. “This isn’t sorcery…it’s Witchcraft!” Fuck yeah it is!
Hearing someone say, "It wasn't made for you" may be the most inane phrase in fandom. They've completely diminished and dismissed your own fandom, opinion and whatever else you have to share, and at the same time trying to tell you they understand something when you do not.
I'm tired of hearing about Star Trek "Well, it wasn't made for you".
I've been a fan for FIFTY YEARS. If not me, then who? If not now, WHY? You don't get to decide one morning that I'm not allowed to like it anymore. All the complaints about "gatekeeping", that's GATEKEEPING!
This may be the most disprovable tweet I've ever read on this platform. So, okay, I'll start...THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, STAR TREK II, BLADE RUNNER, THE ROAD WARRIOR, CONAN THE BARBARIAN, POLTERGEIST, E.T., THE THING,...and I haven't even left 1982...
Man it must suck having grown up in the 80’s, maybe the worst decade when it comes to TV, Movies, and Music just to see everything done better for the next FOUR decades. What a terrible era to have childhood nostalgia for
The monumental disrespect shown to Kathleen Kennedy by the fan community is precisely why fans have no credibility in the hallowed halls of Hollywood. She produced literally three decades of fandom. You want to discuss her supposed "failures," first admit her successes. Period.
Please explain to me why Boba Fett even gives a shit about Tatooine? That’s like caring about an Arkansas Meth Lord’s business when you could instead take over the five families in NYC.
This is, without a doubt, some of the best VFX to ever appear in any Godzilla film. I'm telling you...this might wind up being my favorite film of the year.
.
@shangchi
is an absolute triumph. It exists not as simply a comic book adaptation, but as a straight up wuxia fantasy epic. Surprisingly heartfelt, humorous, action-packed and beautifully directed, I was wildly entertained the entire running time. It’s top tier
