Our colleague in the EU Delegation in Minsk has just been released from detention in Belarus. It is a big relief. I share the joy of his family and friends. I want to thank our US partners for their efforts and engagement in facilitating his release.

I raised that question, about the perception of maintaining silence on HR abuses, in the interview as well and @RKionka said: “Nothing could be further from the truth.” She said she had been engaged in lot of “quiet diplomacy” on the issue as opposed to “megaphone diplomacy.”
Sadly she maintained a strange silence throughout her tenure - never even conveyed her concerns privately to MoFA!
