Covid poses an "existential threat to human health". Every infection increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, dementia, dysregulation of the immune system and reactivation of viral infections. Children are having Long COVID. https://t.co/agmju1XbTX

We downplay the virus at our peril, warns Yaneer Bar-Yam. And children are more at risk than we thought.

Healthcare and education sector workers have had the highest number of COVID claims with WorkSafeBC. They will continue to become sick with COVID even if WorkSafeBC has stopped posting the claims as of January 2025.

COVID cases in BC and across Canada are increasing, decreased waste water testing and reporting is not going to prevent people from getting sick and hospitals becoming overrun.
I had not seen this change to wastewater reporting both in coverage and frequency. Typical @CDCofBC & BC PHO's approach to disappearing an ongoing pandemic "don't test, don't tell, don't show and don't know." What could go wrong? #bcpoli

The BOHS in the UK is officially recommending respirators in healthcare settings. Let’s hope that the CSA standard Z94.4 for the use of respirators in all healthcare settings will become official in Canada to protect healthcare workers and patients. https://t.co/e4a5OwZYKj
🚨🩺😷🚨🩺😷 BREAKING! At last! In the UK, we have official guidance on the use of respirators (FFP3) vs Fluid Resistant Surgical Masks (FRSM) which has been prepared SPECIFICALLY FOR THE HEALTHCARE SECTOR. 🚨🩺😷🚨🩺😷

Parent advocacy groups have asked the Ministry of Health to install HEPA filters in all BC schools to protect our kids with no results. Private schools like St. Georges upgraded their HVAC's with HEPA filters according to ASHRAE guidelines. https://t.co/Jd0faqj3EV
Ag. Minister Lana Popham: "There’s about $30,000 for 75 egg and poultry producers to add things into their barns like HEPA filters, to install ultra-violet light systems" 🙄 Hey @Josie_Osborne why aren't there HEPAs and UV systems in BC schools to protect our kids from Covid?

Long COVID in kids happens at a critical time when kids are physically and mentally developing and may increase their risk for long term disability. This is why we need more research and resources for this condition to help kids now. https://t.co/1YWVZHJVfe

The Federal government gives BC $194 million annually to treat rare diseases. Medications are not just for curing diseases but to alleviate suffering and improve quality of life. If the drug was $1 the committee would never have been involved. https://t.co/eW8dGBWD9q

Measles, like COVID is a contagious airborne virus. Handwashing is ineffective for prevention but what is effective includes vaccination, use of masks especially N95 masks, cleaning the air in schools and a public awareness campaign. https://t.co/ljvQhsbNYU.
