The 34th overture for consideration by the 53rd #PCAGA has been received. The overture comes from Savannah River Presbytery and proposes to “Amend BCO 9-2 Regarding the Expectation of the Establishment of a Diaconate.”

In the PCA we are not in agreement on this point. In fact, I think the two opinions on system subscription define the sides of the PCA better than any other. Some say that the WS is the system: the Ven diagram is a circle. Others say what I say below.
@Fozzybear_Lives @derekradney @revpmr @ZacharyGarris @Jacob_A_Webb As Derek says below, Hodge argues that the "system of doctrine" is not the Confession, otherwise we could not take any differences. The system is Reformed Theology. Our vow states that we sincerely receive and adopt WS as containing the system of doctrine taught in scripture.

Indeed. When it was produced, it standardized the biblical text in the most widely spoken language in Europe and N. Africa. High quality textual criticism and translation. I disagree with some of his decisions, but by-and-large his work is the gold standard.
Bible that changed the world #1 – Jerome's Vulgate. Jerome was a master of Biblical languages and was commissioned to translate the Gospels into Latin, the new common tongue, following the decline of Greek.
