A couple of weeks ago I emptied a trug that had been sat in the garden for a year or 2 and it was amazing how much life was in there. So I made a video about it! https://t.co/9Qsivo7o04

A #ghostpond is a pond deliberately infilled in the past often to gain more farmland. Here is a resurrected ghost pond 3 years on! Surely the most successful form of ecological restoration known!!!

14 years ago I took this photo of a Broad Bodied Chaser Dragonfly nymph. It was the start of a journey that would end with me setting up a shed in which to photograph and film the often overlooked species living in our ponds. Im just off to my shed to film some more now!

Haliplus mucronatus, a rather attractive haliplid and a bit of a beast compared to other UK species. Gwent Levels. ⁦@ColSocBI
