Linux is a viable solution for many today, sure some games are explicitly blocked from linux but 99% games are supported through proton :) linux today has wonderful desktops to choose from and many applications supported to even do creative work. #Linux #linuxgaming

Some of the last reasons to stay on Windows have been gaming related. Both the time from installation to in-game and gaming performance on Bazzite are now actually better than Windows on many games, and living room usability is more seamless too.

We are working on pushing the 590 NVIDIA Driver. This will result into an automatic migration to the "open" kernel module. If you changed it manually to the closed one, then check out following link: https://t.co/RG0RIsARZD

This interview covers much of the reasoning behind Bazzite's design, the history behind it and why we believe it's the model for the future of the Linux desktop. Michael also does a lot of good Linux content outside of this, so check him out! https://t.co/iFiYU321bY

Wayland to Xwayland (and in reverse) drag and drop has been added to cosmic-comp. Now you can drag and drop files from COSMIC Files to X11 apps like Slack and Discord, etc.

Finally, we’re sponsoring both @freebsdfndation and @netbsd. We’ve been working with FreeBSD throughout the year as part of their Laptop Support and Usability Project, and we’re happy to support the foundation with funding as well.

The last Linux distro in this batch of sponsorships is @nixos_org, which is a community supported distro across each of our products. In addition to being popular in the Framework Community, NixOS is also the distro of choice for one of our firmware engineers.

Next, we’re supporting @bazzite_gg, which is one of the fastest growing Linux distros, and a very popular choice for Framework Desktop users interested in gaming. Bazzite is some of the clearest proof that the year of the Linux Desktop is here.

Next up, we have @debian, which is actually the first distro I used when I started my Linux journey in 2003. This is one of the more popular choices for Framework Laptop users, and it’s also the distro that Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and many other major distros are rooted in.

Downstream of that, we’re also supporting @CachyOS, which is an Arch Linux based distro specifically focused on performance. CachyOS consistently comes up on top in performance benchmarks, like this recent one done by Phoronix on a Framework Desktop:

With Intel having sunset Clear Linux, when it comes to aggressive out-of-the-box Linux performance there is the Arch Linux based CachyOS as the leading contender.

First, we’re sponsoring Arch Linux, which is consistently in the top three most popular distros for Framework Laptop and Framework Desktop owners. This is an awesome power user choice with a very broad community and a deep knowledgebase in its wiki.
