Having read numerous excerpts from it, I purchased a copy of “Democracy in America” yesterday so I could finally read it in full. I’ll be starting it in a few weeks but I am most relieved to say that I will finally be joining the majority of Americans who have read this book.

He lost because he equivocated on Civil Rights. Nixon should’ve hammered home Lyndon Johnson’s watering down of Eisenhower’s Civil Rights bills. Hopefully, in four years, Rockefeller can pulverize that rat bastard Kennedy.

I'm the president of the "Harry Truman was over-hated and now is over-loved due to historical course correcting" club but even I can recognize that no one hated Republicans, and did it so masterfully, like ol' Harry 'Ass' Truman.

The problem is that the GOAT at hating Republicans, Harry Truman, usually had enough sense to thread the needle. Modern Democrats lack the skill and the modern voters are too dumb to pick up on subtly and nuance. It just won't hit the same I'm afraid and may even backfire.

Initiating a legislative arms race to "own the libs/cons" is so beyond the scope of the American political tradition, and what is morally acceptable, that if you advocate for it seriously, I don't think your views should be taken with any degree of legitimacy.

Using one's dislike of partisan opponents is a fantastic motivator. It can inspire the base to go the extra mile. But if your main purpose for governing is to rub dirt in the eyes of your opponents?. It becomes abundantly obvious you're not fit for any modicum of power.
