Co-host of the Kill Phil pod, @PhilNewby5 was interviewed by @PrueLeith and @danny__kruger for their programme on assisted dying. It airs tonight. Well worth a watch!
"If somebody else wants to end their life they can, but Phil can't without somebody helping him." Phil Newby has Motor Neurone Disease. He talks to Tory MP, Danny Kruger and his mum Prue Leith about why he wants the UK law to be changed to legalise assisted dying in the UK.

And you can’t say the law in Canada has ‘slipped’. A Supreme Court ruling back in 2016 has been implemented in stages.

.@soniasodha has a point. But any law coming here will be for the terminally ill (like in the USA, Australia, NZ, Switzerland). So the same risk isn’t there.

"I want to shorten my death, shorten my suffering, and release the burden of the people watching me go through this needlessly." Powerful words from @PhilNewby5 to @aliciakearns Phil is fighting for the choice to die on his own terms.

A great honour to be joined by the inspiring @PhilNewby5 today as we discussed his campaign for #AssistedDying. To shorten suffering, and death, is a choice surely we as a society can give to those whose bodies now fail, and even torture, them.
‘I want to shorten my death, shorten my suffering, and release the burden of the people watching me go through this needlessly’, says this assisted dying campaigner suffering with motor neurone disease. @aliciakearns

This is an extremely powerful and courageous interview with @PaulBlomfieldMP.
I don’t think I’ve ever reached out to hold an MP’s hand during an interview before. But this interview with @PaulBlomfieldMP - speaking about his father taking his own life, despite wanting to live - is incredibly moving and worth your time. #Ridge

Really interesting (and balanced) look at the two sides of the #AssistedDying debate. Still waiting for this sort of grown-up conversation in Parlament. @A_WittenbergCox @forbes

We must continue to listen to Phil and those in similar situations, their deeply personal experiences are the core of the #AssistedDying campaign and must remain front and centre. 3/3

As well as his work on the powerful @KillPhilPodcast, Phil also crowdfunded a case asking High Court judges to review and balance expert evidence for-and-against #AssistedDying, but the English courts have made it clear that Parliament must address this, not the courts. 2/3

Star of Kill Phil @PhilNewby5 and some of his family took a recent trip to visit his MP @aliciakearns in Parliament. Travel is no mean feat for Phil these days but it was worth the effort after a very good meeting to discuss #AssistedDying.

"The voice of the people affected by #AssistedDying is being drowned out by militant opinions at both ends of the debate." Check out star of Kill Phil @PhilNewby5's brilliant chat with @hannagsslr of @Daily_Express 👇👇👇

TERMINALLY ill and disabled people must be put at the heart of the debate about assisted dying, a campaigner has said.

Thank you @hannagsslr
Really enjoyed talking with Phil Newby of @KillPhilPodcast. He spoke about why terminally ill and disabled people must be at the heart of the assisted dying debate, not drowned out by those with strong views on both sides https://t.co/saP4Fo0HaN

What will it take for a new #AssistedDying law to be passed in England? Our guest, former Lib Dems leader @vincecable, says a passionate MP, rather than the government, will need to act, as @Liam4Orkney is doing in Scotland. Listen to the full epsiode: https://t.co/XZt2doyqth

A must-listen. Phil Newby talks to Not Dead Yet's Phil Friend on the @KillPhilPodcast. "We arrive at oppositions because of our experiences. After decades of controversies, how come we haven't reached a compromise?" #AssistedDying
