This month’s Civic Society column in the PT (18 September) will be all about the Guildhall, past, present and, most importantly, future …. @peterboroughtel.
Brilliant example of what could be done to the Guildhall in Peterborough. The Civic Society has long suggested that some sort of glass cube could be installed inside, thus avoiding damaging the actual fabric of the building - could then be an information centre or similar ….

Recently I, and other members of the Civic Society, have been involved with a group of people keen on promoting Peterborough, in this instance people visiting the city by rail, writes Toby Wood.

We are considering writing a column in August about Peterborough Lido so need evidence of when the Council ‘tried to scrap the Lido’ - could you please provide minutes or notes of any decisions? Thank you @paulbristow79 @CambsPboroCA - happy to email if you prefer.
‘The Labour Council tried to scrap the Lido’ says the combined authority mayor. When was this … any minutes/dates etc gratefully received - don’t want to write about it in @peterboroughtel if the assertion is inaccurate . @PeterboroughCC @CambsPboroCA @andrewpakes_

Of course we might have misunderstood - the mayor might have plans to open a craft beer bar. It will certainly be hard to replace The Stoneworks which was a innovative and creative addition to the city centre.

Interesting news that the combined authority mayor has a ‘new future’ plan. Today Society members and people from Hereward Community Rail Partnership @PboroPositive took rail company reps round Peterborough devising a plan to attract visitors - lots of positive ideas shared.
We need a new future for #Peterborough City Centre. Enforcement, development, free parking & vision.💙. I have a plan. It will be big. Bold. It will ruffle a few feathers. But it will offer hope & change. Big announcements later this year. 💪 . We can do this! 👍.

RT @PaulStainton: What they said - let’s get a vision and a plan in place so we can all agree on what we want our city centre to look like.

Great to see Peterborough City Council making a stand. It’s really quite simple … what do we want our city centre to look like?.
Good to see @BBCCambs picking up planning refusal for a new bigger fruit machine store in the old Wilko. We already have too many adult gaming centres in Peterborough City Centre. The council has taken the right decision to turn it down.
