Today it has been reported that during our first round of action in England mortality rate was 11.1% above the 5 year average. What they haven’t reported was that in Wales, where no strike action took place, mortality rate was 14% above the 5 year average. 1/3

🔴 Junior doctors have been accused of putting “politics above patient safety” as figures showed excess deaths almost tripled after their strikes. https://t.co/ySQdAZr5Xq

Sad state of affairs that doctors and nurses are striking. Fully support them. They are doing it for the security of the health service, this broken system cannot continue. Coming soon to a picket line near you...

When I started my thesis around frailty in undergrad Med Ed I came across a paper by @SearleDoc & @Krockdoc that shaped my work. Here a few years on, @GraceInvaders & I share some thoughts on why frailty is so challenging to teach and learn about.

So incredibly grateful to @CV_UHB emergency dept for seeing, assessing, treating and discharging my Gran all within 5h last night. She was reluctant to attend (82, hearing impaired, English 2nd language) but she was so impressed with the care. Thank you so much to the ED staff

In fact I felt more elated and had an incredible sense of hope and optimism following appointment of Kamala Harris in USA than of Rishi Sunak

It is a momentous thing, to see a brown man as the PM. How far we have come as a society should be acknowledged. But do I feel he represents the British Asian community, ethnic minority communities, British diversity.... or will act in the interests of the uk population? NOPE

Rishi Sunak becomes Britains first BAME Prime Minister. To pretend this has no significance to our politics or society is naive. To expect Rishi to improve the lives of minorities or tackle the institutional and/or societal racism in British society, is just as naive.

Fully support Nursing colleagues w upcoming ballot for strike. NHS has been too under funded and poorly staffed for too long. Also support junior doctors in the same vein. Fair pay and patient safety are 100% worth fighting for and decision to strike is not made lightly

Just been vaccinated against covid omicron and delta while 35 weeks pregnant, want to pass on immunity to the wriggly baba and do not want to get ill this winter. Vaccination is safe while pregnant, covid would put me and baby at risk. When offered, please take it up! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
