Having worked with Senator Seward when he chaired the Senate Insurance Committee, I am sad to hear of his passing. Senator Seward was an exemplary legislator and I extend my condolences to his friends and family.
We at NCOIL are devasted to hear the news of the passing of NY Sen & former NCOIL President, Jim Seward. During his time in public service, he embodied the word gentleman and made major impacts in NY & at NCOIL. We will miss him and our thoughts are with his family & colleagues.

As Chair of the Assembly Banks Committee I'm focused on enhancing opportunities in underserved communities. My recently signed legislation with Senator Sanders does just that by increasing lending to MWBEs and spurs investments in these areas.

It's important for crime victims to feel they are not alone in their recovery. That's why I helped pass a law that removes barriers to compensation for crime victims, ensuring smoother access to benefits in their time of need (Ch. 695 of 2023).

My new bill strengthens NY's Access to Home Program, providing grants for disability-related home modifications to low-income individuals. It enhances data collection for better impact and wider reach through municipalities and experienced nonprofits.
