I have some sympathy for the @Hexarad. General Medical Council again not fit for purpose. This is exactly what a regulator should be doing. It is what we doctors *pay* them to do
A #radiologist was able to work for a leading UK #teleradiology company, despite having had his licences revoked in Sweden and Norway. The firm has now issued a detailed statement on the scandal. Read our report: https://t.co/FRD4DJrfsT

A #ClinicalExam or #physicalassessment lacks sensitivity, but to omit it entirely is short-sighted, writes @PMccoubrie in a new series of articles about interactions between #radiology and #surgery. https://t.co/Gwx9vDBXuS

I am deeply respectful of non-medical psychometricians. Those skilled in the technical and psychological aspects of assessment are to be savoured But they should never be in charge of content My acid test of any assessment is that any senior (ie reg/cons) should easily pass it
The Multi-Specialty Recruitment Assessment Exam is a terrible idea executed terribly Oh and the SJT... How I wish I hadn't gone down this rabbit hole 1/🧵

Been scribbling for my surgical colleagues again. A column about decision-making, it's core role in clinical practice and why it is so hard these day https://t.co/JsyDZJXa4z

Leonard Berlin had been a leading intellect in radiology for many decades. One of my heroes.
A new star shines brightly in the night sky with the passing last night of Dr. Lenny Berlin, a giant in radiology: extraordinary leader, educator, mentor, and friend to so many, who personified all the best of the word "mensch." He will be very much missed. RIP.

A brilliant column by Giles. Well worth 5 minutes of your time
Every #radiologist probably has a secret ambition to have something named after them, Dr Giles Maskell says. In a new column, he introduces Maskell's Law of #Cancer. https://t.co/b6vG3ge9Wq

Had to have a cold shower this morning - boiler on the Fritz temporarily. Not my usual thing TBH You know how it’s supposed to make you all energised and refreshed? I felt cold. Cold and miserable. And a bit angry 0/10. Would not recommend

Today’s German-compound-word that-we-could-really-use-an-English-equivalent-of Number 238: “Verschlimmbessern” To paradoxically make things worse in honest but failed efforts to make things better See also: NHS reforms of this century

Chris has been writing again. I know it is *another* column on AI but, as always, he writes with aplomb https://t.co/N8WwRouZxM

AI systems are remarkable achievements, but there is a way to go before I’ll lift my scepticism of their role as anything other than a tool to be deployed judiciously and alongside other, human,...

Bit of a game changer for the radiology of incidental adrenal lesions. Fairly compelling argument for (1) doing away with washout CT (2) calling <4cm 10-20HU lesions benign My life may just be about to become a little easier https://t.co/m2fcYyelSa

Abstract For over 20 years, the two key tenets of adrenal incidentaloma (AI) evaluation have been the upper threshold of 10 Hounsfield units (HU) on noncontrast CT (ncCT) to delineate benignity, and...

Typically modest comment from David. But his points about postgrad medical education being run on a wing and a prayer are very true
Today is my last day as Head of Severn School of Radiology. This has been the best job of my career so far and a real privilege to support our radiology residents through their training. A few reflections on educational leadership follow. 🧵 1/10

Sgwd Yr Eira Waterfall in Wales on my old iPhone 11 If you have an iPhone, take a Live Photo then toggle the settings to “Long Exposure”. Bingo. No need for a tripod and dSLR

Tributes are flowing for Prof Barry Kelly from #belfast, a key figure in Irish #radiology. "He was a polymath, effortlessly weaving art, poetry, literature, philosophy, and medicine into mesmerising talks. He was radiology’s Stephen Fry," says @PMccoubrie. https://t.co/fPTSnJ4a20
