In order to meet the State's load shedding requirements for today's Stage 3 Flex Art, our Electric Operations team has had to shut down power for about 1700 customers in Midtown, Old Palo Alto, and Industrial Park. We expect to have power restored by about 9.

Some CPAU customers lost power for ~2hrs tonight. Due to excessive heat & stress on the electric grid, the State asked CPAU to "shed electric load." Pls help us⬇️demand by unplugging & powering off appliances when not in use. It's another hot one tomorrow!

There is currently a power outage for ~4500 customers in the Palo Verde/Meadow Park area. Lightning struck a utility pole & caused a small fire & wire down. Estimated restoration is ~10am for at least 90% of customers. Work in progress now.
We received a new estimate of ~10pm for power restoration. The root cause is still being investigated & we appreciate your shared tips about what you're seeing out there, such as a goose that may have flown into wires. We're checking that out in addn. to other equip inspections.
Our crews have identified the cause of the current power outage as a fallen tree branch on the electric lines. Our current estimated restoration time for most customers is 7 pm.
Outage update: Power has been restored for about half of the affected customers. 749 still remain without power, and crews are working diligently to repair damage and restore service.
Tonight's outage was caused by a goose flying into the power lines. Unfortunately, the goose did not make it.😞 Power should be back for most or coming back online for all very shortly. Thx 4 patience & to our crew for working quickly to restore!

This just in - power outage restored ~7:30pm. Cause - mylar balloon in power lines. 2nd time in less than 2 months an outage was caused by a mylar balloon. Pls keep hold of those balloons & consider an alternative to mylar. Have a safe night, everyone!

Power outage in Ventura, Barron Park & Charleston Meadows areas last night caused by a downed power line. Most customers had power back by 2am, remaining customers were restored by 6am. Thx for your patience as crews worked as quickly as possible to respond & restore.

There is currently an electrical outage for about 4500 customers primarily in the south east part of Palo Alto. The cause is a mylar balloon that has become entangled in the power lines. We are working on determining an estimated restoration time for those impacted.
Correction to typo in previous post: Park Blvd substation not Park Ave. Status remains the same but crew hopes to restore power sooner than 9pm if at all possible. They’re working on it now to try to fix ASAP. for updates.

Power outage last night for ~1800 customers almost 100% restored ~5:30a. Broken insulator & singed wires. Crews responded to these storm impacts thru out the night. Power out again ~6:20a due to the equip damage from storm. Crews @ work again, new ETR 9/10a. Stay safe out there!

There is a power outage in the Midtown area affecting approximately 3400 customers. A tree brought down power lines due to high wind conditions. The estimated restoration time is 7pm. Partial restoration is expected soon.
Update on this morning's outage - when our Electric Operations crews worked at the scene, they found that a squirrel had gotten into the underground cabling and caused the outage. They removed the body and replaced the cable, restoring power for those who were impacted.
