One person on Bluesky called Adobe customer support about this and they said Adobe Animate is being discontinued because “the company can't think of any new features to add to the program and they feel it's gotten stale.” Their course of action? Killing it.

TLDR; Adobe is not just discontinuing support for Animate, but making the last version totally unavailable and your files unusable next March. Thank you Adobe for finally freeing me from your clutches, you will never see another dime from me after this.

What's sinister about Adobe is they're not making optional AI tools to help animators; they are actively making gen AI products to replace animators and now removing the option to animate purely at all. They are boldly anti-animator. If you can say goodbye to them, you should.
adobe probably killed flash/animate because they couldn't figure out how to add any generative AI bullshit to it, similar to what they've done with the rest of their software although i am just speculating
