might as well post this here traditionally hand drawn 48FPS loop done in Flash 8 and Animate 2024 animated over the span of like, 200+ hours. 83 individual drawings

my workspace in my bedroom where I do all of my animation and music stuff is only 6ft away from where I first downloaded pivot back in 2007. I basically got into animation and then barely moved in the 18 years since lol

>live on the rez >downloaded pivot when i was 10 >make stick figure animations for a couple years >learn how to create/animate rigs in Flash >diagnosed with a seizure disorder in 2016 >was told to quit by neurologists >ignore >move to hand-drawn animation >still on the rez

when i post animations like this onto youtube, I usually try my best to explain my process as thoroughly as possible. sorta treating it as a general FAQ mixed with an essay of my specific approach. glad to know that the information Im sharing seems to be worth more than I thought

I didn't know whether or not this animation needed an article of any kind but thats really nice to see actually realizing now that my particular use of the youtube description to actually describe things gives people more access to information thatd be hard to find anywhere else.
2D animator @mayyde created an incredibly smooth hand-drawn dance animation at 48 FPS, using Flash 8 and Animate 2024. It took 83 individual drawings and over 200 hours: https://t.co/WoBbXON86i

difference map comparing the original 24FPS drawings with the cleaned up drawings after inbetweening on 48FPS. every single highlight is where the original 24FPS drawings were revised and adjusted for jitter prevention at 48FPS i did like 7 cleanup passes on this

also on youtube, tons of useful information in the video description if you're wondering how this animation was done. https://t.co/RPBPXEer3M

AI video interpolation has really come a long way wow amazing holy shit incredible oh my goodness spectacular looks like fucking garbage. i'd throw hands with this fucking bloatware but i dont think it could to stay consistent enough.

make an AI bro lose their mind just by asking the really technical animation/art/video/compositing/music/mixing questions, and then watch them struggle to answer anything correctly LMAO

AI generative tools are garbage, and it most likely wont get any better for a LONG time, considering that AI frame interpolation has looked the same since the 2010s and its still "good" they hit the ceiling, only to find to find out that they're underneath a fucking table

well it's been 5 years, and it's still fucking garbage. the most "progress" they've made was to completely abandon frame interpolation entirely and just move to generative media. and now those generated videos have the same artifacts that made frame interpolation so weird LMFAO

also back about 5 years ago, the discussion of "AI frame interpolation" was massive, and people were throwing that shit onto basically everything while hiding behind "it'll get better over time, i bet that you'll be using it in the future"

when i did my first 48FPS animations, it was mostly an experiment to see what that framerate would actually look like, and what it would feel like to work with it. i can 100% confirm that it is an absolute FUCKING NIGHTMARE and nobody needs this.
