We used to literally drown our #SAH patients. 100 ml/hr or more of NS for a week or two. Now we know much more about the harms of fluid overload, esp in terms of lung injury, and possibly AKI and cerebral edema as well. This paper nicely illustrated how cumulative fluid

So interesting, and something you can employ in your practice immediately. In this cohort of foreign-speaking ICU pts, being paired with nurses who spoke the same language was associated w/ less delirium, agitation and a 50% reduction in the use of restraints!
