Anyone else had a letter like this recently? I’ve had two, for my Landy and Volvo (both correctly insured), respectively. Response from my broker in the comments. It would be interesting to hear how widespread this issue is.

…and in glorious close-up. My mate Bill, who lives locally, has recovered literally thousands of artefacts here over the last 25 years, including a complete Roman funerary urn (X-rayed at Fishbourne to reveal partial remains of a young female).

Went for a stroll on my favourite Sussex beach this eve. Found lots of prehistoric material here last year due to rapid erosion but today this solitary sherd was my only reward. Very coarse fabric, hand formed rather than wheel thrown, so I’m guessing Late Bronze Age 1200-500 BC.

Sadly, the location that the lists refer to is missing, but I was told by the dealer I bought the box from that it came out of an old country house in Childswickham, near Broadway in the Cotswolds.

…I photographed them and enlarged them in Photoshop. They are dated 5 December 1796 and are local militia recruitment lists, stating who was eligible, who was exempt, and their occupations. Presumably this was a reaction to fears that the upstart Boney might invade England.

Hearing on the news that the British Army is at its lowest manpower since the Napoleonic Wars reminds me of the C17th? blanket box I bought a few years ago that had been lined with old handwritten records. Impossible to read until…

What I like about modern tractors is that their colour palette is straight out of a 1970s car brochure. I’d like to think that the lime-green tractor bottom right is a Lamborghini, channelling its inner Miura.

Thoroughly enjoyed some gentle off-roading in the @ToyotaUK Land Cruiser today - but wished, when I got home two hours later, I’d remembered to put back the floor mat I’d taken out while doing interior pics 🙄
