Government has 'made a big mistake' on pay and missed the chance to turn the NHS around, says UNISON Christina McAnea @cmcanea, head of UNISON, on the government's announcement today that NHS staff in England are to receive a pay rise of £1,400 this year 1/11 🧵

It’s so bad that not 1 of these 5 candidates seemed to acknowledge the financial difficulties public workers are in. It’s so sad but it looks like strikes will go ahead! #itvdebate

As funding is cut I find more mainstream services aren’t making reasonable adjustments to see people with an LD, instead they refer direct to limited specialist LD services. #OTsForEquity

Our lovely OT student Holly has made this display for our waiting room to promote #OTweek2021 based all upon health inequities people with a learning disability face on a daily basis. An accessible version is in production too!

Working with people with a learning disability I constantly see health inequalities. But I also see my fellow OT’s and MDT knock down as many barriers as we can 🤜 Any Q’s about LD, just ask! #OTsForEquity #OTweek2021
As a profession, occupational therapists are on the frontline of health equity and are uniquely placed to understand and tackle the challenges people face. This week let's celebrate what you already do, and show the world what more can be done. #OTsForEquity #OTWeek2021

Belong. Be You. I could write a longgg list of the things I have done today but I won’t. Because the most important part of my day was being thanked by a service user. We don’t do our job for thanks but it really helped me focus on why we do what we do. We help. #WorldOTDay2021

I’m off to a care home that caters for adults with learning disabilities to give the residents the Covid-19 vaccine this afternoon These people would find it too much to come into one of our clinics, so we are going to them Reasonable Adjustments
