Sometimes we do selfish things in the name of self preservation. It's the nature of being human. As bad as that is, deluding ourselves that we are doing otherwise is worse- because then we have no reason to exercise restraint or stop when something better comes along.

Folks, you're either going to buy and use it unmasked or not. It works well, but I gave the caveat. I won't be responding to posts trying to get me to validate elaborate loopholes, theories, or justifications. You don't need my blessings. If you want to manage the risk of

I'm guessing many people who want to use the AirFanta Wear will adopt the “every man for himself” framing to address the risk it poses to others and the ethical dilemma it creates (or doesn't create for many). I didn't dwell on it in the review because, based on my experience

A reminder that there is very little innovation in Far-UVC, and a good deal of the inspiration for the innovative design of the Torch 2 came from @froglet80. Froglet first documented the problem with using reflector-based emitters in the close confines of her shelter and

I’ve been chatting with @froglet80. I have some old posts where I said something to the effect that I felt people were missing out on the expertise and knowledge base that exists in the unhoused community- which is certainly the case here. And, as previously mentioned- The

This is how it is when people are more interested in solving engineering problems than they are in enforcing an imagined social hierarchy. They can have a discussion about something dear to them, without becoming outraged that a certain sort of person had the temerity to politely

TLDR: AirFanta Wear- not a mask, not close to a mask, great portable air purifier (best HEPA one), perfect for meals and flying, you may get other people sick with it. Disclosure: This was not done in a proper third-party lab, just some off-the-cuff tests- I defer to

AirFanta Wear findings: It’s reasonably quiet- about 42dBA at 1m on low. It has two speeds, but its filtration efficiency is higher on the low setting, and it can still meet about 40L/min (roughly peak inhalation rate during light activity). So I don’t see a good reason to put

“Dogs are always going to come up short if you insist on defining them as a weird kind of cat.” So to begin with, reviewing the AirFanta Wear as a mask or mask replacement is completely unreasonable. It’s an air purifier, not a mask. We generally define a “usable mask” as one

Today's project🤓 The head is hollow and there are two nostril holes. Right now, the fan on top of the head is pulling air through the nostrils at 6 L/min to (charitably) simulate resting inhalation. The filter has to be able to supply enough clean air to meet at least 15 L/min

Seems like the kind of guy that might be open to at least listening about accessibility measures in public buildings like upgraded filtration and GUV🤔 Remember you can make Upper-Room GUV in any New York sheet metal shop, it doesn't have to be imported. Just the bulbs and

This moment says everything about why Zohran Mamdani won. A journalist in a wheelchair asked about accessibility and Mamdani didn’t talk down to him, didn’t deflect, didn’t politicize it. He listened. He’s the kind of leader who respects everyone, every faith, every class,

I wonder why being innovative, disruptive, and challenging the status quo in a tech hardware niche is "problematic" all of a sudden? 🤔 Can't quite put my finger on what it could be...🧐

@FarUVtech It's probably important that you tell your customers that you were lying when you sold it as 24mW when it's only 8.8mW and that you have zero evidence the 8.8mW shown provides any meaningful protection.

So yeah, this is a fun trick that covers the real innovation- ultracompact filtration good enough to BBQ in a space station (closed-loop air environment), with almost no consumables.

Oh, very slick -they are using a mini electrostatic precipitator for the first pass so they don't have to carry a ton of filtration medium up the gravity well. https://t.co/xRVgQSMWTp It has to be small and low ozone in that environment. I'm betting they adapted this:

Yeah, this is super awesome and incredibly Chinese, but that's exactly what I was thinking- massive PM2.5 output from air fryers. And heat dissipation in zero g is a pain. This is technically quite a bit more challenging than it looks.

Wanna try BBQ 400 km above Earth? In a first for China’s Space Station, taikonauts used a hot air oven to roast chicken wings and grill steaks right in space. And no need to worry about lingering cooking smells: the oven comes with a built-in air purification system!
