Useful article with some impressive examples (even I don't care much for the cover art), as productively dealing with failure and rejection in science is quite important Hereβs how to deal with failure, say senior scientists | Nature Index

One of the major problems in assembling trait data has been the lack of a data standard. @f_d_schneider and colleagues present a solution in the form of a new trait-data standard that is flexible and accommodates extensions to include additional metadata.
Our paper "Towards an Ecological Traitβdata Standard" is now accepted for publication @MethodsEcolEvol and available as early view: https://t.co/rB0f6zsLXT check it out! (it will switch to open access in a couple of days!)

This @exxonmobile chart from 1982 predicted that in 2019 our atmospheric CO2 level would reach about 415 parts per million, raising the global temperature roughly 0.9 degrees C. Update: The world crossed the 415 ppm threshold this week and broke 0.9 degrees C in 2017 1/

Figure of the day. Iβve watched it twice already this morning.
New project: A βBar Chart Raceβ animation showing the changing ranks of the 10 biggest cities in the world since 1500. Fascinating to watch giant cities vanish after falling in conquests, and amazing that three UK cities were in the top 8 in the late 1800s.
