This is my 23rd post for National Care Leavers Month. Each day I post something from my archive relative to the subject. But today is different. Can you help me find someone. Please. In 1972 a Scottish couple fostered a baby and saved her. She is now looking for the

So many roads in Britain are flooding on a frequent basis. But before they blame it on cow farts causing climate change, it might helpful if local councils could be arsed to regularly unblock and clean the road drains. That’s what we pay our council tax for, apparently.

If a child born on or before 9th October 2009 had to go into care tonight, under current legislation, they may end up in a hostel, caravan, or even a barge by themselves - with no day-to-day care at all. If any parent abandoned their own child in this way, they may be accused of

If you read one thing this week about children’s social care, let it be this from @JoeEHanley. Important to be clued up on new Children’s Minister (11th in 10 years) and their ties to Tory gov, financial rewards received from said gov, & legacy toward 16/17 year olds in care.

Curious about Josh MacAlister, the new Junior Minister at the Department for Education, and why his appointment is concerning? Here's a piece I wrote for @NWBylines last year. It's a good place to start: https://t.co/ymJ8fwhoV9

Still silence from Haven & their senior team. I’ve now escalated my complaint to @ABTAtravel. Disabled families shouldn’t have to fight for accessibility—or be told to “pay extra” for what the Equality Act 2010 says is a right. Silence isn’t neutral. It’s discrimination.

This is bigger than me. 👉 Why do organisations make accessibility feel like a battle? 👉 Why do they push customers into complaints loops instead of fixing issues quickly? Accessibility isn’t optional. It’s essential. Escalating now to @ABTAtravel + @EASShelpline.

Accessibility isn’t a request. It isn’t a paid upgrade. It isn’t something to decide at the last minute. It’s a legal right under the Equality Act 2010 – reasonable adjustments must be made.

I’ve spent hours on hold, been told “we don’t discriminate, we treat everyone the same,” and bounced between chat, phone lines, and now… a 21-day complaints process. Our holiday is in less than 14 days.

All I’ve asked for: a caravan close to the main complex so my disabled family can access facilities without struggle. This has been honoured in the past. This year? Refused unless I pay extra or wait until arrival and “see what can be done.”

Day 5 of trying to resolve a simple accessibility request with @haven. What should have been straightforward under the Equality Act 2010 has become a battle. 🧵

Haven: “We’re sorry your holiday experience wasn’t better.” Me: The holiday hasn’t even started yet. We travel in less than 14 days. Complaints team reply in 21. Equality Act requires adjustments before the fact. Why is process ahead of people? Why isn’t Havens ECI inclusive of

Same young person. Same complex care needs. One carer is paid ÂŁ12.21 an hour The other gets ÂŁ11.98 A DAY No shifts. No sick pay. No clocking off. Just endless paperwork, stress, battles and care. Unpaid carers deserve more. #UnpaidCarers #socialcarecrisis #DisabilityRights
