Check out this breakthrough in #synbio👇🧬🦠
Glad to see my main PhD project finally out @NatureMicrobiol
https://t.co/GPTpkClhBI We show for the first time that a synthetic and engineered pathway can indeed exceed nature at one-carbon fixation.

Today I’m joining 30+ colleagues in taking an unusual step: calling for a halt to a line of research I was excited about, the long-term effort to build “mirror life”. We’re sharing our findings in a @ScienceMagazine paper: https://t.co/B4eXp46K84 1/6

Lets talk about #acetyl-CoA! As central molecule in C1 metabolism, the efficiency of its assimilation determines yields. Read below about our Lcm as novel activity in the shortest O2 tolerant route to make pyruvate from acetyl-CoA while fixing #CO2! https://t.co/E3UoZNdKwy

Cupriavidus necator H16 is a promising microbial platform strain for CO2 valorisation. While C. necator is amenable to genome editing, existing tools are often inefficient or rely on lengthy protoc...
We developed a brand new #CRISPR toolkit for #Cupriavidus #necator, a biotechnological platform for CO2 (and derivatives) valorization. The system is based on self-splicing introns and allows us to get mutants within 48h and with efficiencies up to 80% Check the thread below👇

Great to see this work out, 7 (!) years ago we started trying to make an efficient CRISR genome editing tool for my favorite C1-utilizer C. necator . That was a challenge, but driven by @enricoorsi @dellavallesimo and @copa_bio the puzzled was cracked! SIBR(2.0)-Cas! Check it!

Vandaag zouden duizenden studenten en medewerkers in Utrecht protesteren tegen bezuinigingen op onderwijs en onderzoek. Minder geld betekent minder kansen, minder onderzoek en minder oplossingen. We zeggen: Kabinet, DOE HET NIET! 🟥

🟥 Kabinet, Doe Het Niet!

Given sustainability and scalability concerns of using sugar feedstocks for microbial bioproduction of bulk chemicals, widening the feedstock range for microbial cell factories is of high interest....

Super excited and thankful for receiving an NWO Vidi grant for realizing synthetic/more efficient Co2 fixation in a hydrogen utilizing bacterium! Looking forward to work with my team on this project in the coming five years! #Vidi #CO2 #synbio
Over 86,7 million euros has been granted to 102 researchers from different domains. The grant creates the opportunity to develop an innovative line of research and expand their own research group. More information=> https://t.co/FJ1lNS79Ht
