For me, rubrics are just giving someone a destination and criteria that says how they did in getting there. This only works if you know how to get there. A learning progression gives a destination and tangible steps to get there. It increases access to the learning outcome.

6 years ago I started the tradition of having my students write a letter to their future Grade 12 selves.Sts from this class have begun to reach out in anticipation of their letters. It’s so incredible to reconnect with them so many years later and hear about their future plans.
