I couldn't have disagreed more with Charlie Kirk on virtually every political issue he debated. But that is the point, he debated. In any society, let alone a democracy, violence can never be justified. I hope God eases the suffering of his wife, children, family & friends.

The Saltire doesn't belong to one group, it belongs to us all. It's a symbol that welcomes all who call Scotland their home, not a symbol to try and shut people out. We can't afford to be passive, we need to mobilise & confront the forces of hatred that are trying to divide us.

The murder of Charlie Kirk is another dreadful example of violence in our politics. We live and thrive by the democratic strength of respecting the views of others. There can never be a place for violence. My sympathy to his wife and family.
